Is Tesla’s Robotaxi fleet shrinking?
Rani Molla’s latest analysis in Sherwood News features Obi CEO Ashwini Anburajan’s take on recent reports of fewer Tesla AVs on the road in San Francisco and Austin. Obi’s data backs it up, with Tesla showing up as an option in fewer ride searches now compared to Q1. That indicates a reduced availability of rides.
But that doesn’t mean riders aren’t interested: Since Tesla Robotaxis debuted in Austin, use of the Obi app has tripled there. Consumers want to know the best way to get around, and with newcomers like Tesla and Waymo on the roads, they are eager to compare options.
Obi is the only source for data on crucial signals for Tesla Robotaxis like pricing trends and market share. Recently, we found that Tesla’s notoriously low prices have jumped by over 40% in just a few months and have grown much more dynamic – a sign that they’re continuing to figure out a sustainable model for the service.
