Over the past year, Obi has continued to expand globally, incorporating rideshare companies popular in the Middle East including Yango and Careem. The Middle East, in particular Dubai, has become a highly competitive market with both global and local players competing for market share. Prior to 2020, the most significant movement in the Middle East market was the purchase of Careem by Uber, turning the company into a standalone brand that operates in competition with its global parent. In the last few years, Yango has gained a foothold in the market and Bolt has recently entered, turning Dubai into a city with a high level of competition for rides.
